School’s around the corner which means it’s back to making lunches — yes, one of many people’s least favorite things to do.
Did you know that the average U.S. student generates 67 pounds of lunch waste each year? That’s more than 18,000 pounds per school! If you don’t already, consider packing zero waste lunches this year. To reduce your waste, buy items in bulk and replace all disposable items with reusable ones.
As you purchase back to school items, be sure to add these to your shopping list:
- Cloth lunch bag or lunch box
- Cloth napkin (or your kid’s shirt/arm)
- Rigid plastic or cloth sandwich container
- Rigid plastic or cloth snack containers
- Water bottle
